How difficult is it to change
lamp myself?
Fairly easy! In our opinion,
BUT its your opinion that matters!
The first thing to do is to let your set cool down and follow your
manufactures instructions to remove lamp housing.
On RCA lamps and many others you can verify part# on lamp
housing on a white sticker to be double sure your ordering proper
bulb for your TV.
You can look and evaluate for yourself how hard it would be to
change.
Usually 3-4 torx/Philips screws, ground wire (Philips or torx) and a
nut on the back of the lamp.
Then just reverse procedure to install new bulb, being careful of
getting fingerprints on lamp or lamp face.
Re-install lamp.
Weak ventilation will reduce lamp life!
You should check/vacuum your air vents on back of TV.
Consult your owners manual.
Some TV may have filters that need cleaned or replaced periodically
as well.
If you are blowing lamps quickly. Your TV has other problems and
will need an experienced service technician to help you solve problem.
Bad ballast or fans malfunctioning would be a couple of examples of
this.
Normal lamp life should be 2000-5000 hrs.
